Delorme Street Atlas 2010

Has anyone bought version 2010 and compared it with 2008? What are the differences? Specifically, I'm wondering if it has corrected the faults in 2008.

I find Street Atlas very useful for planning long trips, since it calculates fuel stops and where I should plan to stop for the night. It is also much easier to apply vias in Street Atlas. The whole trip can then be imported into my 855, which is much easier and better to use when actually travelling. A lot of you probably do a similar thing.

My difficulty is that the 2008 version was not properly programmed. There are too many places where it does not recognize that roads are continuous.sad. It draws the road on the screen, but it won't let me use it. It's as if a ditch has been dug across the road, making it impassable. Probably it's a mis-match where they joined maps together. Anyway I can't fix it. It also shows, and uses, many non-existent roads. Roads that have NEVER existed, not just rebuilt.

Fortunately, when I import the route into the 855, the nuvi gets it right.

It would be nice to always start from a properly prepared route though.

SA 2010

I have both versions. If you can give me examples of some roads you want checked, I will be glad to do it.

There is a pretty active forum on the Delorme site that you might want to check out. There are some posts there documenting reported issues that were not fixed in 2010.

Thanks. 3 annoying faults

Thanks. 3 annoying faults are:
I 295 at exit 10 around Jacksonville in Florida. Delorme insists I take the off ramp and then the on ramp.

From Elgin, Ontario, Canada (N46 36.4',W76 12.55') to Indian Lake Rd (N44 35.25', W76 20.42') The road from PH 15, running SW alongside the rr track, does not exist, never has. The area of Balderson does not exist, never has. The correct route is Chaffeys Lock Rd exiting PH 15 just north of the RR track. Correct township is Rideau Lakes.

Hwy 400 between Barrie and Parry Sound in Ontario, Canada. The road exists, but Delorme re-routes me many miles out of the way.

I've been on the Delorme forums. Quite useful, though I find it annoying that Delorme seems to ignore most of the complaints. Certainly I find Delorme to be not as customer friendly as I would expect.

DeLome Street Atlas

I had the 2009 version which I bought for planning a trip from MD to California and return. The maps in the software were at least 5 if not more years out of date in the areas I wanted to travel. It did not have many of the streets in subdivisions that had been there for at least 15 years, mine being a prime example. I live on a circular street that has 3 exits to the surrounding city streets that have been in place since the area was built in 1993. The 2009 maps had only one of the 3.

When in California, we wanted to go to Monterey, but SA couldn't find a route to the 17 mile drive but my GPS could, so could Mappoint 2004, Google, Mapquest, and Yahoo! I trashed the product after getting back home.

This error has been corrected in SA 2010

These errors have not been corrected. The railroad track doesn't show on the 2010 map, but the roads and route are the same as 2008.

Hi Allbizz, If I understand your question... DeLorme Street Atlas is software for you laptop and can be used with any NMEA compliant USB GPS. Same is true about Garmin's Mobile PC and Microsoft Streets & Trips.

All 3 software titles can be purchased with an included GPS receiver or software only. Third party GPS receivers such as the GlobalSat BU-354 (http://www.amazon.com/GlobalSat-BU-353-Waterproof-USB-Receiv...) also make excellent companions for this software.

Thanks. I won't be buying

Thanks. I won't be buying 2010 then. If Delorme cannot get our expressways right, then goodness knows what the minor roads are like.sad

Delorme map errors

Just out of curiosity ... did you report these map errors to Delorme back in 2008?

Give S&T 2010 a try

Hello Not2Bright,

I just created a route between Elgin and Indian Lake Rd in S&T and it correctly routes along Chaffeys Lock Rd. See screenshot here: http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/9680/not2bright.png

Give it a try yourself. A free 60 day trial of Streets & Trips 2010 can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=...
