Vacation / Daytona Beach

Just return from Florida where we were on the beach wearing shorts in the ocean with air conditioning on in our room all 8 nights / back in Illinois Tuesday AM wearing long pants, jackets with the furnace on in our house even before we went to Florida / wish we were still in Fl

One good thing is I still have 6 day's before going back to work.

It's funny

For the second year in a row, we had absolutely NO kids at Halloween! Zip. Zilch. Nada. What am I going to do with all those Mallo Cups, Peanut Butter Cups and other assorted candies? wink

Stores skipped Thanksgiving?

Went to a Target yesterday for some stuff, and noticed that all the Christmas stuff was already out. What happened to Thanksgiving?

To be honest, I think that there was at least one aisle of Christmas stuff out in the middle of October!

trick or treat

I had zero kids Sat night. I'm glad I bought MOUNDS this year. The only candy that I like. The young family across the street were at grandma's house so that might explain why no one came by.

Sign of the times

The earlier you see Christmas stuff in the stores, the worse the retailers are doing!

Mommy tax

People are not giving out butterfingers anymore. I was really sad when I went to take my cut of the candy and there was none of my favorite.

My kids have been trained that mommy gets to take tax out of any large amount of candy they get.

It is good for kids to learn about the government early so that they are not shocked the first time they look at their paycheck.

Miss POI

Mommy tax

This is always a good lesson for the kids shock
I also told them that an adult had to test the candy that they got just to remove the stale ones that may be going bad... razz razz

Love this weather

Although this week is hot again (90+), I love the AZ weather this time of year. Nice cool nights.

Miss POI, feel free to come to AZ. In addition to Snickers, Twix, and Reeses, we gave out butterfingers at my house. We have a rule that we only give out candy that we like.

Peanut allergies

Probably the reason for no butterfingers (although my kids got some).

We did have some people ask whether our kids had peanut allergies before giving them candy this year (presumably had some peanut free choices).

Vegas

I spent last week in Vegas and it was colder than in Toronto. Even the pools have been closed.

Same Here

Cold in Chicago, but not for long...

Just heard it is supposed to get up to 64 degrees by Saturday! Crazy! Just glad there will be no more rain!

Speaking of candy, it was just on the news that there is a group of Dentists in our area that are doing a "Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program" where they will take your left-over candy and send it to our troops overseas. I've got to find out more about it as we have a lot I would like to donate.

Great idea!!!

Hola

Hello, hows everyone doing?

Vacation Was Fun..

Wife and I.. (along with our faithful puppy, ie: that is if you consider a 3 year old 85 pound "Goldador" as a puppy) AND my Garmin Nuvi 1300 WT went on vacation to Bryson City, NC and the Smoky Mountain Railroad Museum. Had myself a ball.

I downloaded several POI's from this web site.. (and THANK YOU one and all), loaded them onto my 4 gig SanDisk microSD and A W A A A Y we went.

I used the I-75 rest stop one all the way to just South of Atlanta. It sure helped out when it came to doggie pit stops.. and ours too. Thanks "McDenny".. you sure were a life saver.

Thanks also go out to "Mahoney" for his (?) (hers if I've got the wrong gender), Animal Hospitals. Glad I didn't need it, but sure was comforting to know just in case.

Thanks also go out to "GC0110" for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park POI. Had a blast up there. We went to the highest peak so we could see some snow. Both my wife and I are Northerner's (I guess that's the right spelling) and living in the deep South Y'all don't get a chance to play in snow.

Even though I didn't have to use "Donald-D's" Scenic Railroads POI this time, it sure will come in handy later. Thanks

Seeing I'm associated with the "Florida Gulf Coast Railroad Museum".. http://www.frrm.org/ via being a active member of the "OwlHoots", http://www.owlhoots.org/ which is a all volunteer Western/Cowboy theatrical group I would like to especially Thank "ADCSUSN" for including us in his US Railroad Museum POI. It's much appreciated.

Well I guess that about wraps it up.

My son gets a terrible rash from nuts so we had to go through his candy before he got any. We only bought candy without nuts in case we had left overs. You have to watch out, even candy bars with no nuts can say they were made on machinery that may have contacted nuts!
