Removing voice files from a 765t

Can you safely remove non-English voice files from a 765t?

Eliminating Voice Files

Sure you can do that to get a little more space in the internal memory of the Garmin. You can save them on your PC or you can restore them thru a download from Garmin Updater.

My solution for my Nuvi 350 is buy a very large SDHC card & use that for mp3's & POI's, keeping the basic Garmin stuff in the Garmin.

Easy to Do

I keep only the english files and switch between the US english and the Aus english for a variety. I went into the Garmin via my computer and deleted all the non english .TTY files. Just remember when you get an update at the Garmin site you only take the ones that you plan on using.

I also removed the majority

I also removed the majority of non english files. You can always put them back on later and for most leaving them on is just wasted space that could be filled by another POI file.

.

Keep in mind you can also delete unneeded vehicles and help files.

Removing Garmin Voices

Great!! thanks for all the replies, I make regular backups of both the garmin files and my SD card. Just wanted to be sure it wouldn't foul up anything by removing them. Good to know I can dump vehicle icons also (thanks for tht tip as well).

Off to the trash bin I go!!!
