Can anyone tell me what I need to do after downloading the rest area files to my laptop, is it difficult to install these files on my Garmin 670? Thanks

Here is the easiest way to set up files on your computer to download to your gps unit.Later on you may want to go to subfolders for categories.

Making poifiles the easy way.

1.Make a folder on your computer and give it a name. Example My poi's.
2.Download the csv or gpx file and put them in that folder.
3.If you want to add a bmp or mp3. Download from site and also add to the same folder but make sure you name them the same as the file you want them to go with except the extensions.

>My pois=Main Folder
>>Dunkin Donuts.csv
>>Dunkin Donuts.mp3
>>Dunkin Donuts.bmp
>>Walmart.csv
>>Walmart.bmp
>>Walmart.mp3
>>Targets.gpx
>>Targets.bmp
>>Targets.mp3

4.Hook the gps up to computer using usb cable and then run poiloader . http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/http://www8.garmin.... Select My pois folder when you get to browse.
5.If you want alerts use manual mode instead of express.
6.You should get message so many pois are loaded at the end of the download.
7.On GPS go to where to then extras or my locations if you don’t see extras and touch custom pois and you should see them.
8.Every time you run poiloader it will overwrite the existing files.
9. Note. The biggest problems with the csv, gpx, wav, bmp and mp3 not working are the files not being named the same except for extensions and having double extensions. Double-check each of them. The best way to prevent double extensions is to go to your folder options in the control panel and click view then find hide extensions for known file types and remove the check mark. Click ok.

Adding questions to this...

I have been updating and just playing with my 265t but have further questions myself.

With the POI, there is the option of proximity alerts I have begun to set them.

Basically I got it to give me an alert x distance from the location in the setup when I load it. The alert shows up on the screen and stays there a while. I know this goes away after I drive away but is there a way to acknowledge this so that grey bar goes away across the screen?

I drive near a store I have a proximity alert and that bar just stays there and blocks the view.

Thanks.

That is about the way it

That is about the way it works. It would be a nice feature to just touch the alert text and it would turn off .
