Traffic in Miami

Question for folks living in and around Miami, Florida.
I'll be driving down that way in a few months and was wondering what traffic is like on Saturday and Sunday mornings in Miami. I'm mainly interested in traffic conditions between the hours of 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Also, I'll be focusing on I-95 and the Florida Turnpike. I've driven quite a bit in Tampa but I've never been to Miami. I'm looking forward to paying that part of the state a visit.

Although Miami isn't listed as the worst traffic area in the country, my experience, especially along I-95, sez it is and sez it is very dangerous, especially on your right side where 'shoulder riders' are doing things you generally don't see elsewhere. Madness!!! This is mainly during the morning and afternoon rush hours.

On Saturday and Sunday mornings it is different and I've found the traffic not to be bad at all.

The stretch I'm talking about extends from Miami up and through Ft. Lauderdale.

My Garmin, with traffic alerts, has been very helpful to me when I drive in that area.

Miami traffic

Thanks so much for the information. I really appreciate it. As I stated above, I've driven in Tampa and have never had much of a problem with traffic, but Miami is a whole new experience for me. I have heard that it is bad news, so I thought I would ask somebody who knew. Thanks again. (By the way. I've read some of your tips and they have really helped me a lot. So, thank you for your work in this area.)
