moving custom poi's to the favorites list

here is what im trying to do on a 885t. i have searched and cant find the answer, maybe someone has done this and can help me.

i have a catagory under custom poi's called " hobby lobby " and it lists all the hobby lobbys in the usa.
i want to move this particular folder of hobby lobby poi's to the favorites under a already created folder called " crafts" . im trying to do this for my wifes 885t so it is easier for her to find craft stores without scrolling thru the multiple folders in the custom poi directory.
anybody know how to get the custom poi hobby lobby folder into the favorites folder\crafts ? ? ? ?

thanks for any help in advance

I would suggest leaving as

I would suggest leaving as custom poi and using the spell button. This will eliminate scrolling through pages of custom poi files.

If you want to put in favorites, you can open the original gpx file (if csv, you will have to convert to gpx) in mapsource and send to nuvi. another option is to place gpx file in favorite gpx folder on nuvi (I think you should name it temp.gpx) and power off and on and it should copy favorites to internal memory. I think you will have to put into crafts manually. Again, this seems more complicated since you already have the custom poi folder, but it can be done. May want to try search for more info.

thanks for the help. just

thanks for the help. just trying to minimize the button pushing while driving. will name the file temp and see what happens...

that worked perfectly,,, ren

that worked perfectly,,, ren the file to temp and reboot and it merged. you are correct that you have to move each one to the craft dir... lol,,, told her im not moving 325 of them.. wish you could just move folders between the custom poi and favorites or at least drop the folder with .gpx file in it to the gpx dir on the nuvi...

thanks again for your help..

Use the voice luke, use the voice

The 885 will bring up the needed menus and POI using voice commands by speaking the button sequence. It's slower as you have to wait for the unit to tell you it is ready to accept the next command, but it will get you there.

The other thing about using the favorites - there are a limited number of favorite entries, so rather than load them all, I would have tailored the list to only those within a 100 mile radius or so.

ɐ‾nsǝɹ Just one click away from the end of the Internet

I have also experimented

I have also experimented with placing charaters in front of the custom poi file names to move certain files to the top.

If I remember correctly the + worked. Some others did not. You could experiment with this approach if you like.

To save you some work so you don't have to move each one of them to the craft category in favorites.Turboo added this new feature a few weeks back. You will need to delete the ones in the gps using the delete function so as not to get duplicates.Download http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor and download your custom poi file to it.Now double click on any one of the custom pois. Now go down to category on bottom left and type in craft. No selection for craft so you have to get it in the file.Click OK.Next time you go back that category will now be listed as a selection. After clicking OK you will get back to the poi listing.Click edit top left and click replace field. In field name using the down arrow click on category. In new field value type in craft the same way you did before. Then click replace all.All the pois will now have craft for the category.Save as a gpx file and as jthawkin@comcast.net stated rename it to temp.gpx and put it back in the gpx folder with the current gpx and reboot. When you go to favorites on the gps you will now see a category for craft with all the pois in it.This only works for units that have the category feature for favorites.
