Gps taking me off route

I went on a road trip with my KNA-G510. Which has worked great! However this weekend it was sending me the wrong way to my destinations? Sent me over ramps from the freeway just to have make a u-turn using the ramp to go in the direction I had just came from. Once it took me off the freeway down a street to a round about and directed me to use the roundabout for making a u-turn to re-enter the freeway that I was just directed off of. I have quite a few custom POI's in unit and am wondering if this could be causing my issues? My POI's seem to be out of place and either don't sound or sound early or late?
Thanks in advance

Did you try a reset?

While I've no experience with your particular unit, I'm wondering if a reset would help. It would seem there has to be some way to reset the unit and have it reload.

Wrong Way

I have had that happen to me also. I found that completely powering off and disconnecting the power in the car and then plugging it back in solved the issue.

Power down

I can get at the unit pretty easy and will uplug all the connections and see what happens from there!
Hopefully that is the answer it is a pia to do this to
rectify issue.
Thanks

Power down

I took my unit out of the vehicle for a few minutes then reinstalled it.Next trip out of town will let me know if this helped me not to get off track!!

simular issue resolved

I had my unit do that also. I noticed that it was set to "avoid traffic." So it sent me off ramps and back on the freeway. That change corrected the problem. I later realized that I selected for it to avoid traffic even though it was already optimized.

Will check

Thanks for that info I don't believe that is my problem but I will check my settings!!!

Garmin 750 off route

I have been getting more and more strange routes selected by my Garmin. It will often take city streets rather than highways saving, perhaps a mile on a 30 mile trip but ignoring the fact that there are stoplights and such. And, no, I don't have avoid highways selected. I can tell it to avoid but it will sometimes pick an even more strange route.

Not sure what's up but not liking the change.

Kind of the Same Problem...

I had a problem with my Nuvi 765T. It works great, but on a trip to Milwaukee, it lost its GPS mind. Once we got into downtown Milwaukee trying to navigate to a hotel, it started to get confused, telling me to get off on non-existant exits, turn on streets that were not there, telling me to go in the opposite direction of a destination, car icon on the screen driving off the road, etc. Once we left Milwaukee, all was well again and has been ever since. Strange.

changed setting

I checked my gps tonite and it was set to avoid traffic,I turned the setting off.Next time i go out of town I will see what happens with directions!!

2010 map update

I just put the NT 2010 map update in my KNA-G510 very easy to do. Have not been out of town to check for road changes or proper directions.

Out of town

I am heading to Edmonton in the morning, This will test my GPS taking me off route.I also am using 2010 mapping will see if I notice any changes on route!

How many

How many ways are there to get to Edmonton from FM?

Just joking grin

Same Problem

Perhaps it was Milwaukee!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Fred

Ha

At least three! LOL

Same issues

My Gps told me to turn right then make a u-turn back and across the road I just turned left on,What the heck?
Then i started losing the GPS signal,Signal would go out for a few minutes then back.
However on my drive back it would lose signal for a half an hour at a time.Would not say searching for satellites would just not have speed or distance to,Sat screen showed 12 sats blacked out and sometimes one or two getting green. Not sure whats up with this?? Hopefully is not reoccurring problem.

On the Garmin I hold the

On the Garmin I hold the power button for 20 seconds until it re-boots the device then all the routes are back to normal. Hope that helps.

Weird!!!!

I have had mine do some wierd stuff also. It took me off the highway and on small roads through small towns on two lane roads on my trip from Virginia to Toronto. The wierd thing is on the way to Virgina from Toronto it took me the whole way on highways. Not sure what happened on the way home. I did not change anything on my GPS to warrent it going off the highway. It was set on the fastest route.

Nuvi 660. Nuvi 40 Check out. www.houserentalsorlando.com Irish Saying. A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.

The only time I see this

The only time I see this behavior in my GPS is after I let my 6 year old amuse herself with it. Changing vehicles, playing music, creating random waypoints with random names such as "qwepoiasdlkjzxcmnb1230984576". Of course, there are usually some changed settings and avoidances too.

Road Trip

On my latest road trip my GPS lost all satellite signals. The drop out of signals lasted for periods of a half an hour at a time to ten minutes? Next day on all seems well,Not sure what happened there.

Traveling on the Interstate

Mine wanted me to take a off ramp and get back on the interstate. I was scratching my head on that one. Maybe it had to have a potty break too.

Ever since my signals dropped I have not experienced the problem since!!!

I don't know if it is at all

I don't know if it is at all related but this is what happens to me every now and then:

I enter the New Jersey Turnpike which for a while is divided between CARS ONLY and CARS, BUSES and TRUCKS. Likewise a stretch of highway may be divided between EXPRESS and LOCAL lanes all ending up at the same place.

If I take the one that the Garmin has not suggested it may sometimes recommend that I exit the highway in order to re-enter and get onto the parallel roadway that it told me to take in the first place.

Maps -> Wife -> Garmin 12XL -> StreetPilot 2610 -> Nuvi 660 (blown speaker) -> Nuvi 3790LMT

Off route

Once I was driving on US 58 in Southern VA along the TN border, the GPS (Street Pilot) keep taking off the highway and into the small towns and back on.

Another time which was good was I was driving north on I-294 in the southwest Chicago. It keep telling me to "Keep Right" about every 11 miles, it happend so that is where the cash booths for the toll was paid.

Edmonton

I am in Edmonton and my GPS had no drop outs at all,Thinking my previous problem was a terrestrial one.A UFO or something like that.Heading home tomorrow after meeting will post again later.

Home

Unit worked well with no lose of signals at all! Had nav set for quickest route and it seemed i was taken the long way to my destinations.I rest to shortest way to destinations and distance seemd better. All in all good experience.

All good

Went to Edmonton for Boxing day shopping,GPS worked very good, quick routing,no loss of signals!!!!!!

Reset

As with any computer, a reset or power cycling can work wonders

Reset

To reset the KNA I took it out of the vehicle for a few mintues and then plugged it back in. Not sure if anything changed but will be doing this occasionally.

I had two problems to occur

I had two problems to occur on my trip to Fort Walton Beach FL.The first one was for a Cracker Barrel in Crestview FL that I stopped at.I am the author of the file and had coordinates set for front door because it is off the road and hard to see.Directions was to go down Cracker Barrel Rd.The road has a curve in it to the right. At the curve it told me to turn left.No road to left even though Cracker Barrel Rd bears to right.Reset coordinates to first entrance to parking lot for Cracker Barrel hoping that may correct the problem. When returning back to central FL tried again with the change.Still wanted me to make left turn.

Other problem was I selected go to for a location from Fort Walton to Valparaiso FL .Had not been there before so left if up to Samantha for directions.Got to intersection at Lewis Turner Blvd and Samantha said turn right onto 85 south then make u turn which headed me back to 85 north. At that same intersection I could have made left turn and gotten to 85 south instead of making u turn.My wife said she could give better directions then that.

I have been many places with my unit with no problems with directions. In this case I believe it is the maps and no re-set will correct that.I reported the problems hopefully to be changed on next map update.

Garmin 350

I a happy to say my Garmin 350 is getting more reliable each year. I almost never get signal dropouts now. I updated the maps and ran the web updater. The webupdater's firmware updates seemed to help the most. Make sure the unit is set to fastest route. after one of the updates it got set to shortest distance somehow. On a recent trip to Philly I got an unexpected tour of downtown instead of going on the freeway. The garmin web knowledgebase also help me fix some minor issues that come up with some units.

Nuvi 765t and nuvi 265

Both of my garmins hate the cross street closest to my house. When using my garmins they always have me going 2 blocks over to get to a cross street instead of the cross street closest to me. I still get where I'm going but I just think the nuvi's have fav roads and they won't change....lol

GPS turns into plowed field....

Took my Nuvi 650W from Eugene Oregon to Tampa last January. Had been operating "pretty good reliability" for about 6 months with a few quirks.

Heading out of Flagstaff to Sedonna Az on the old highway, on a straight stretch it suddenly directed at turn...right into a plowed field....rural, never any road there from the looks of the area. While there _was_ a gate in the fencin of the property, it was even just a dirt path over a culvert beside the paved hiway....

In a 18 day trip cross country, my first lengthy journey with GPS, it was certainly wonderful helper. We came to expect, though, at least ONE major error every day routing us thru Kathmandu or the Twilight Zone for unknown reasons.

This is my first visit here, I hope to learn more on how to use this device.
