Anyone has success of getting Garmin/Navteq to correct your submitted map error?

Hi all,

Does anyone has any success of getting Garmin or Navteq to correct map error after you submitted it using the online form ?

I just submit a map error using the online form at the Garmin website and wondering how are their responsiveness to it.

Thanks

.

Within 3-5 years you might see your change.

Yes

I posted about it... the correction was submitted a couple years ago.

Months or more

I submitted a neighborhood where new friends have lived for years but didn't show on their map after the first time we went to their house. The neighborhood was added in the next update.

I just checked another missing neighborhood I contacted them about 6 months ago and it is still not included.

Other friends who told me their house was not "in the GPS" was, but doesn't show up on Garmin Maps or Mapquest. Their neighborhood is several years old too.

Garmin corrections

I have past Garmin corrections in the past and found the information corrected in the next update, but I don't buy all the updates.

Always behind

Remember that the map update you buy today is probably, at best, Navteq's 1st quarter 2009 build. So say you submit an error today and it has never been submitted to Navteq before and it gets updated in time for Navteq 4th quarter 2009 build. You probably wouldn't see it on your Nuvi until mid 2010.

That's a best case scenario!

I've been largely ignored.

Map updates

Yeah I have submitted a number of issues. I have no idea if it was my submission that was the reason for the update but, the updates are in the new map set that I just loaded.

Still waiting

I submitted a change along with documentation and I'm still waiting to see the change in an update. I should have told Garmin to check Tele Atlas; they already had the change in their map.

Six months and Counting

I submitted changes to Navteq six months ago and the map on their web site is still not updated. Whenever that happens, I'm sure that it'll be another long wait before the change shows up on Garmin maps.

well, I'll be...

I submitted a problem maybe a year ago. The correction now appears on the Navteq site!!!

I might just have to buy the update now, as it was an error on the entrance to my neighborhood.

Map Updates

I submitted a change to Navteq for a new road, where I live and I received a reply from Navteq several months later, indicating they had incorporated the change.

I have since confirmed, thet the changes were made, when I got the latest map from Garmin.

Bypass the middleman and go direct to Navteq, but be sure to provide as much info and any corroborating info, such as contacts at the municipality, or pictures, etc. In this case, I did copy of the map of the municipality's website and submitted that.

My sub was added in 1975 it still cant find my house on the 2010.2, Good thing I know where my house is.

My change appeared after a few months but..

I never received any kind of acknowledgement. It was a missing road, so maybe they were informed the other way.

(I sent a report last December and, again, for whatever reason, it did show on 2010.2)

Maybe multiple submissions?

I'm wondering if it takes longer for them to update if they just get a single submission?
IOW if just one person submits a change, it gets a lower rating for confirmation and correction, but multiple submissions means that it affects more people and thus deserves a correction sooner.

It might make an interesting experiment to submit the same correction from various email accounts. Almost everyone has at least two already. If you have more than two, send the correction using each address and see how fast the update occurs compared to a single notification.

new road

I submitted a newly constructed road on the Navteq site. After about a month or two, I got an email saying they had accepted it. I now see the new road on Naveteq Map24, but I'm not sure if it has found it's way to Garmin maps yet.

I submitted an error about a year ago to both Garmin & Navteq. Never heard a word back from either one. crying

Just a word of advice

Just a word of advice, submit your changes etc. to Navteq. Garmin simply buys the maps from Navteq so just cut out the middle man.

If your change is for an area what's not one the Navteq physically checks regularly, for some other reason they can't verify it quickly, or it isn't reported my multiple sources, you won't see the change soon. You can't expect them to incorporate a change on the strength of one unverified submission.

I'd like to see a change appear withing a half year of submission. I expect to see it within one year of submission. It will probably appear within a year and half or 2 years. That's for roads. Don't hold your breath on POI changes as the source data comes from to many sources and is not really controlled my Navteq like road data is.

I found some errors on the roads by our property in North Carolina, and submitted it to them 2 years ago.... I'm awaiting Lifetime Map update info, so I can download it, and I'll check to see if it got fixed... and post here...

You can check now

You can check to see if Navteq has made the change today if you wish. Go to Navteq.com and enter addresses that will create a route that would require using the roads you submitted changes for. If all is OK now with those maps they will appear on your Nuvi's Lifetime Map update either on the next update or a future one depending on when the changes were actually made by Navteq.

Remember that as of today, Garmin's map updates are at least 2 quarters behind the maps you will use on Navteq.com. This means you may need to wait awhile before the change shows up on your Nuvi.

Yes & No

I submitted several US Hwy changes. Some were changed within six months and others still not changed. I'm sure they need to verify the change. Using the Nuvi Camera feature, I've submitted a by-pass showing the route actually driven with the track turned on along with the actual route I was suppose to be on. That was changed in the next update. I also submitted two round-abouts on a US Hwy that still have not been changed. I also doubt that local road or street changes or additions have a high priority.

Why buy update

I might just have to buy the update now, as it was an error on the entrance to my neighborhood.

I wouldn't spend $90 just to see a change in the neighborhood where I live.

Any map updates are at least 2 years out. Not worth the cost to me.

Just installed 2022.10, Street and Hotel Location Still Missing!

There have now been two map updates since I first uploaded a new POI file for Ayres Hotels in SoCal (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/50886) back in Sept. of last year. The street named Radiance Way for their newest location right off of the main thoroughfare W San Marcos Blvd in Carlsbad/Vista (near the Palomar Airport and Legoland) is still missing - so trying to "Go" and route to it ends up with a dashed magenta line to an empty lot through a back alley, according to the latest map! I decided to submit an update request, and found that NavTeq has been re-branded to something called "HERE", so I just submitted through the Garmin web site, since it also involves an incorrectly plotted TripAdvisor rated POI in the map's business database. Will wait and see how long it takes for the update to appear, now that I'm sure they know about it.

No, a waste of time

I have tried to update the speed limit on a section of road in Sherwood Park AB. This section has been 80 km/h but shows as 50 on Garmin for at least 10 years. I have gone through the trouble of giving GPS locations 3 times during that period.. As well as using the map thingie on HERE and NADA

I have corrected this on the HERE maps. Including adding the Ayres Hotel, naming Radiance Way, Stratus Way, Verano Way, and Solara Ln. I hope this fixes the issue in a couple of map cycles.

They added it

HERE didn't originally have speed limit editing, but they added it a couple of years ago at some point. I had to edit the speed limit on a road near me and it showed up in a couple of map cycles.

Thank you Narvick! Re: Corrected on HERE

I've made as many as a couple of dozen correction submissions over the years, including some really clear-cut ones (church moved from downtown to outside town--link for web site...).
I've never gotten anything like your message. While some of my issues have been corrected in later releases, it has never been at all clear to me that I was the cause--not a single time.

Thanks for posting this. It encourages me to try again.
