Australian English

Changed nuvi voice to Australian English-Karen, originally it sounded quite pleasing, untill I noticed that she’s continuously mispronouncing commonly used words; specifically, “recalculating” or instead of I405, its “I four hundred and five”
Is this on purpose?

Thanks,

In case you are not aware, there are many differences between American English, Aussie English, Brit English, and even a few differences with Canadian English.

Ehh, there aren't any differences. If the Yanks would just learn to spell, there wouldn't be any differences!

Phonetic Pronunciation

I find it humourous when the TTS voice tries to pronounce unusual words phonetically. One of the more common roads I drive is Shaganappi Trail in Calgary. Jack pronounces it quite clearly as "Sha-Go-Nop-Pea Trail", but locals slur into "Shag-A-Nappy Trail".

Local dialect and emphasis on different syllables can really make for some strange attempts!

Karen speaks proper Aussie, don't like it use american voices

Heck there are many differences in American English (dialect & slang). the main pronunciation difference between the three, however, is the pronunciation of the vowel sounds. The Australian language stands on it's own with words not used buy either the British or Americans Besides spelling and pronunciation differences, British, American, and Australian English all have some subtle grammar differences as well. Australia does tend to lean closely toward the British English.

Example:
colour color
realise realize
humour humor

Remeber, we all have a accent, wherever they are from - even you!

Recent changes

I recently updated my 765T and this last one was a big update, including voices. Karen as well as some of the other voices definitely changed.

I had been using Karen's voice and even my wife liked her better than the American voice.. up until the update. I noticed more mispronunciations after the update, and I swear the "hundred and (whatever)" wasn't there before the update. It's on the British voice as well, I think. I switched back to American english.

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Pretty cool!
