Dog Parks and such...

My husband and I are planning a cross country trip. We'll be traveling in our truck and 28' travel trailer. We have four small dogs and 2 cats which will also be going with us (yes, I know we sound crazy).
Here's my question: I searched the POI's under both dog and pet, for dog parks and/or pet friendly items and came up blank (except for lodging which we don't need)..."Can anybody suggest where I might find these places?"
Many thanks for any help.

You might want to load the "Rest Areas Combined" poi

It has location and info for 2,103 rest areas and if pets are allowed there it will tell you in Column D or under More on your GPS.

You might also want to load Animal Hospitals USA which has over 28,000 locations, just in case you need medical attention.

If you could define "pet friendly items" we might be able to suggest more points of interest. Dog and Cat food? Toys?

Pet friendly items...

Thank you for the recomendations about rest areas and animal hospital.
Instead of pet friendly items, I guess I should have said pet friendly places such as parks, shopping areas, entertainment, attractions, and in general places where we will be welcome with our pets.

You could take a peek at your route and call each of the municipalities that you plan to visit and inquire about parks that might allow pets, but I would think that shopping areas, entertainment and public attractions(with Dog Shows being the exception)would not allow pets, even if leashed. There may be some, but I can't think of any that would.
