Is it OK to try and power on my gps while it is plugged into my PC? Tired of unplugging the gps every time I add a POI to check and see if it was added. My quick start manual and search options did not answer it? I have a Kodak camera that will cause damage to the camera if I power up while plugged into the PC. Thanks!
It won't power up
Your unit will not power up - as in load maps when plugged into the PC via USB cable. Standard USB cables do not have the needed pin configuration.

It Will Work

At least on my Mac. If you plug in your 260w to a USB cable, then to the computer, the 260W will automatically turn on and act as a hard drive. Eject the Garmin drive. The GPS turns off. Slide the 260W on/off switch to the left (on) then to the right (lock). It will boot up with the normal screen, and will ask you to unlock the screen (move on/off switch to the left. Then the maps come up and you can check POI's. (Not sure if you actually have to lock the screen).
At least it works for me. Not sure it'll save you any time though...

I'm guessing that is what it
I'm guessing that is what it would do but I didn't wanna cause any problems by booting it. If it was going to be a prob. then I would think Garmen would of posted it in the quick start up guide?
