New SiRF Chips

I don't know if any of the POI Factory members really care what chip is in their GPS device, but SiRF has just released a new chip with some interesting sounding features. Here is the URL:

Hopefully the new startup times and lower battery consumption will work there way into our GPS devices in the not too distant future.

next gen devices...

These would also seem to get SiRF out from under some pesky patent issues -- looks good for products next year or so.

I'd expect in another 18 months, anything other than entry-level digital cameras will have GPS built in.

If they can meet their price targets, location and time of day will become ubiquitous.
