selling City Navigator?

Hi,
I'm going to Europe this summer and I'd like to buy Garmin's City Navigator. But since it's so expensive, I'd like to sell it when I get back.

Is it true that the SD-card version doesn't need an unlock code? Could somebody else use the SD card after I used it in my Nuvi?

I've seen this discussed a few times before and it appears that the product is locked to the serial number of the SD card. So the card will work in any unit, but a copy of the card wouldn't work at all.
A telephone call to Garmin is probably in order :-)
