Viewing Garmin c340 route on the computer

Please forgive me if this question has been already answered, but I am "brand new" to the GPS scene. I just purchased a Garmin c340 and love it. However, I would like to look at the route the C340 is carrying me on before leaving. I would like to see the route just as I would if using mapquest, yahoomaps or paper map. Is there a way to do this? If I get the mapsource software from Garmin for my computer can I look at the same route the C340 would carry me on? I just want to see where this thing is taking me. Thanks in advance to all replys.

Greg

On the map screen

Hit the green bar at the top, that will bring up the current route screen, and you can scroll through the route, and select any segment, show it on a browsing map, where you can continue to scroll the route with the browsing map visible, or go back to the current route screen.

Thanks for the tip. I

Thanks for the tip. I wondered how to do that myself.

To view on your unit, see above, on the computer, read this...

To view on your computer, you would need a copy of MapSource. There are ways MapSource can be obtained from Garmin for free, or as little as $15. Try sending an e-mail to Garmin's tech support...tell them you want a means of managing 'Favorites' or "waypoints" on your unit using your computer, and you've heard that MapSource was a good way to do that. When I sent an e-mail like that, they replied asking for my shipping address, and I got one. You can put in start & destination points, and it will generate a route that should be close to the one your GPS will calculate for you.
