NUVI 765T

Just got a new NUVI 765T, and one thing I noticied right away (I hope this hasn't been covered a million times) is that when on a route, and an up coming turn is near, that it shows that it zooms in, but the turn isn't enlarged that much, and that when I pass an alert from a custom POI, it allways goes off three (3) times, even though I have it set for one. Same card that I used in my NUVI 350 that worked correctly. I've read in several topics about the other things that don't work correctly on the 765T, has anyone found a workaround for this?
Any thoughts on this, or is it just my unit?
Thanks, for your responce.

NUVI 765T

Has the auto zoom feature for turns been covered in other threads, I searched but couldn't find any that looked like they covered this area.

I don't know if it's been covered or not. As far as auto map scaling (auto zoom) is concerned, my Nuvi 760 does the same thing when approaching a turn. I can't see any difference before and after the turn.

Look at the picture on this review (Automatic Map Scaling, figure 45):
http://www.gpsmagazine.com/2007/10/garmin_nuvi_760_review.ph...

I don't see any difference between the 2 pictures other than street names. I guess that is how it's supposed to work.

NUVI 765T

The picture on the left, you can see the road beside the vehicle is definitely bigger that in the picture on the right, the ramp (I suppose) during the turn where the auto scaling took place, and is smaller on the right after it went back to the setting.
I'm not seeing that kind of change.
But however, I did figure out my alerts going off 3 times. By zooming in near the alert, I was seeing 3 of every alert I had set. Guess the 765T didn't jive with the card after it was used in the 350, so I formatted the card, re-installed the alerts, and presto, only one of everything like it should be.
Not sure why it would work correctly in the 350, but not in the 765T without re-formatting the card.
Thank you for your info, at least that gives me something to work towards, at least I know now that its supposed to zoom in.
Seems like after reading other posts on here that each 765T has it own little pecularities.

I think you got it backward. Picture on the left is before the zoom-in effect. Picture on the right zooms in to street level. That's what I got from the description below the pictures.

The only difference I can see on those 2 pictures is one of them shows more details (ie: street names). I see no differences other than that.

Left is zoomed, rifht is normal

Pic on the left is zoomed in with the turn very close - 200 ft. Pic on the right is back to normal view with next turn in 4 miles. There are distinct differences between the teo pics. My 765T works the same way. Zooms in near a turn then reverts back to a longer view after the turn.

Garmin 765T...Is it about the destination, or is it about the journey?

Yeah, you're correct... I

Yeah, you're correct... I didn't pay attention to the 'turn in' icon. If that's the case, it's useless (to me) because I can't even tell the difference between the two.

Just the voice...

I use "Jack's" voice commands. Rarely do I look at the screen while driving. If my wife's in the car with me, she likes to follow the screen directions. Oh well.

NUVI 765T

I just found out by pressing and holding on the + sign, that you can turn off the zoom in feature. Imagine that. And by pressing and holding it again you can turn it back on. Now its "zooming" (if that whats its called) again. Guess I must have held the button down a little too long at some point. But the roads are small in track up 2D and its still hard to tell if its zoomed in or not with out looking at the scale in the bottom left, and the turn arrows are small, even at 200, which it won't stay at 120 while on a route now. Sure wish the turn arrows were bigger, and the roads a little bigger like in the 3D version.

Screen refresh

Do all of the 765T's have poor screen refresh rates? After zooming in or out it seems to take a painfully long time to redraw the map. Is there an official/unofficial fix for this?
