City Navigator NT North America v8 Setup going badly

We have finally Rx'd the City Navigator NT North America v8 after a 4 week and 3 email wait - now it doesnt want to install. Has anyone had a problem installing this software?
Im running XP on what most would consider a fast MS platform. It verifys the download and goes to the Saving New Files screen - then stops - not so much hangs as I can still use the computer if I wait. It just stops. I have waited for up to 30min for the program to progress from here but no luck. All other functions on the DVD and the Garmin website work - including the latest up-date (BTW I havent Rx'd any emails either despite registering for them).
Any ideas? Calling Garmin and waiting on hold for who knows how long isnt a desirable and mostly not possible option.

Not sure what download you are talking about? Did you install the program and are now trying to update Mapsource from the Garmin site? I didn't have any problems loading mine on an XP machine.

Sounds like the Intrepid pair have been visiting the vino factories....and having lots of fun!! Watch the DVD go 'round and 'round!

Not quite all there
Yes we enjoy a good Chenin Blanc now and then .... and if I find out who was messin' with my confuser ..... >:-\
In the meantime, the 1st DVD did have a corrupt file (much to my relief). After a phone call, the second DVD was for the wrong unit. Another phonecall and a handmade special order (cos Im special) DVD arrived and all is well. Must be time for another whine .... I mean wine.
Now to figure out the software ..................
