.

I have nothing good to say about the "new" models so I shall remain silent.

.

If you need a unit that's .2" thinner than what's current, has a Public Transit mode (which you'll have to spend an additional $9.95-$14.95 for cityXplorer maps to utilize) and zero user routes, then this is the unit for you!

BTW, I'd keep the unit off while in transit as the specified four hours of battery life translates into more like 2 hours in actual use. I wonder how useful this will be in transit, especially if you forget to shut it off while on the bus or subway and end up with a dead battery somewhere...

What good will it be in a subway?

I guess it's value would be to just FIND the subway entrance, but then of course it would be useless after you entered. It certainly would not help by telling you where to get off. It would lose signal as soon as you entered the subway.

Yes, to find the subway entrance or bus stop/station. My point was that you'd better remember to turn the thing off or you'll be in trouble if the battery dies while it's sitting in your pocket (this is where the .2" thinner profile comes in handy).

IMO

Thinner and less features - what a deal. I was disappointed when I ran the comparison and it appears that Garmin is stripping out features.

I am going to wait, but I am also not going to rule out Garmin's competitors if they do not get their act together.
