Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives

I am trying to load the updated Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and keep getting an error message about line one. Anyone else having this problem? The error is "Data format error on line one".

I believe

I believe when I downloaded the D,D & D files the error in Line 1 was a missing (-) sign in front of the longitude. I found it when I was reformatting file and ran POI Verifier.
I may be mistaken but that's my memory !

Two formats.

Which format CSV or GPX

CSV format looks strange to me. I am not sure if this would cause a load error but the file is RAW containing a header and many columns.

Garmin CSV format usually has no header and up to 4 columns.

Thanks MrKenFL. You made me think about the cvs file. I pulled it up in excel and line 1 is headers, Lat, Long, etc. I deleted those headers and the first location became line 1. I tried the load onto my sd card for my 680 and it worked fine.

GPX to CSV?

I've gotten a few comments about this error but have not had a chance to investigate. I'll correct this problem and upload a corrected version shortly.

I am building the file in gpx format using GeePeeEx and then using the export tool in that software to create the csv version.

I've gotten message from a few people that are having problems with the csv version and various requests for fewer columns, and a few requests for more(!) columns.

Is there any software that can take a gpx format file and output a problem free (or at least more compatible) csv file?

Thanks

Try TurboCC's Extra POI Editr

Try TurboCC's Extra POI editor. I took you CSV and sorted it by state and then loaded it to create both a GPX and a 4 column CSV. I'm pretty certain you can load a GPX and convert it to CSV.

Let me start by saying, I appreciate all of your work and hope this does not sound like I am dumping on you. I just want to point out some things out so that we can improve on all of your hard work.

I don't know of any tool for the conversion but if the GPX format is the master then you must first validate that format is correct.

Some entries have info on the desc line (tag) that don't appear on the subtag (item tags):

For example:

5291 S 1900 WRoy, UT 84067801-825-8961
but no phone tag for this entry

Another problem is incorrect formatting:

For example:

800 S Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231
800 S Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231 appears on city tag
800 S Broadway Baltimore, MD 21231 appears on postal tag

Website: www.theflytrapferndale.com appears on phone tag

Any problems in the master will get mirrored to the CSV. If you need any assistance fixing the file LMK.
