Poiloader

There is a current thread on a new poiloader for Mac
You need to get that, and then load the poi files to your unit.

Sounds easy and actually found it.

Spent quite some time but believe it is for windows platform only. Just have to open up your Garmin on a Imac and , well?, I was totally lost. I did own a pc in 1995. What does that tell ya. Yep I am illiterate. have a great day to all. Wayne.

Just wondered if you have

Just wondered if you have them installed yet and how you are "enjoying" them!

Winnipeg has deployed lots of mobile photo radar vehicles in "fishing" locations at non-school or construction zones when workers are not present to gather loads of dollars.

It will be interesting to see the Province's appeal of the overturn of photo radar tickets in construction zones when no workers are present based on there "Speed Limit 60kph when passing workers" signs!!!

I have the latest pio loader

exclaim Thanks anyway. Wayne, Imac version 10.5.6
My problem is a mac ,as you know does not have the file tree as in windows. I open up my Garmin 255w and I can't even find many of the files. For instant downloaded school zones, received a cvs file on my desktop. Went to poi loader, tried to load file and I get a error. I don't know. It is working great besides that. Funny thing is I loaded speed cameras and it worked. Just dragged the file from my desktop to the garmin folder.

.

Try creating a folder for your Custom POIs and placing the file in that folder. Then when you run POI Loader, you will select that FOLDER as the source of the data. You will not select the FILE when you run POI Loader.

If you copy the CSV and/or GPX files directly to your GPS unit, they will not be loaded as Custom POIs. GPX files will show up in your Favorites. But speed and proximity alerts will not work on Favorites.

Thanks mom

Having a bugger of a time with my mac. I will try anything. Thanks again. Grandpa Wayne. I m a Canadian, go figure???????????

I have the above unit. I'd like to add a custom poi file on my sd card with the reduced speed school zones and red light cameras for winnipeg that beeps or something when I am approaching them. Any help I'd appreciate it.

School zones Winnipeg

Search School Zones Winnipeg and find the POI marked "School Zones Winnipeg - by affected street." Follow the instructions exactly.

Once loaded, if your speed is over 30KPH, you will hear an alert (provided you have configured your GPS for an audible alert.) Unlike red light camera alerts, the school zone alert only sounds on streets where there are actual reductions. This means that you can lower your speed safely while keeping your eyes on the road instead of staring down at your speedometer.
