Travel to Europe and POIs

I'm going to France, Swisse, Germany. I noticed if I try to use coordonates to find an address in France it doesn't work whichever format I choose. I need to find the address using information (ex. a picture of their map) from the hostel, hotel or B&B owner. Does somebody knows how can I make work the POIs (like McDonalds, etc) ?

Set your location of the gps to the area you are interested in..

And then do your search...

I found that information... Thus I didn't ask if you had the Europe maps... wink

Edit: I just did a search for and address on my 270. I clicked on address, spell country, entered the country, then the city, etc and it found the address...

Mc Donalds restaurants

I found a big list of McDonalds restaurents with the coordiantes I can not use. Do you know why and if there is a solution?

You can make a poi file...

What country are you interested in? I set my location to Paris France, Searched for McDonald's and found about the max that it ever does....

Edit: BTW if you are just interested in McDonald's, I have traveled to Japan, Germany, France, Russia, etc and they are all over the place, you don't need a gps to find them, just open your eyes and look around... shock

Why in the world would you want to go to a McDonalds while in France???
They have some of the best food in the world.

Why eat at a place you can eat at while at home other than being able to say you did... In Japan the Big Macs are smaller and I thought it tasted better... In Moscow they were about the same as Los Angeles... Didn't try one in France but I wish I had just to see if there was a difference....

They have nice toilets

They have nice toilets smile Somebody told me that's a very importat point to take care of in France

If you are entering

If you are entering coordinates into GPS and it is not going to correct location, then formats must be different.

Test it next to source (Mapsource for example)- should be the same.

Make sure you are using the same coordinate system.

French food: the best in the world?

I would to beg to disagree with that. Personally I think that France has the worst cooking in the world. I absolutely do not do McDonald's. I happen to think that English pub food is pretty good.

I suppose that if your preference goes to sauces on everything, and seeng 2 string beans artistically arranged on a plate as the vegetable, you'd be happy. Its always infuriated me that I'd see all these wonderful vegetables in the marketplaces, yet in the resturants they don't seem to know that vegetables exist.

As for breakfast, its considered to be the most important meal of the day. So, what do the the French serve, but a greasy croissant, a slice of cheese and some fatty coldcut.

Some of the best food in the world

If you read my post I said some of the best food in the world; not necessarily the best.
For me I would have to say that the Italian food in the Tuscany region is the best.
English pub food is fine; I prefer Irish pub food, however.
Sorry you have had some bad experiences with French cuisine,
I have only eaten in Paris and some of the surrounding areas, and all the food there was fantastic.
Never had a bad meal there, or are you talking about the Americanized version of French
Cuisine?
All the portion in France where European sized.
Not ridiculously over the top like the US.
They don’t do the “doggie bag” thing there wink

It's not Canada

That's important, unlike in Canada, the French aren't so keen on you using their store/restaurant toilets unless you're a paying customer.

McD's

That could be one reason that one of the previous posters mentioned that he goes to McDonalds overseas. I too, have gone to McD's in other countries, for the use of their toilets. McD's toilets are always FREE. Many countries charge for using a toilet. We are spoiled here in the US with free toilets.

A note on the news today, that one of the overseas based airlines is installing coin slots on their plane toilets! I think that is really a low blow for that money grabbing airline!
