Roll back nuvi 750 from 4.60 to prior working version

Does anyone know if it can be done? I know that earlier on, I did an update that could not be rolled back.

Since some have stuttering issues and others do not, I'd like to give it a try with the provision that I can restore the currently installed version.

I've rolled mine and my

I've rolled mine and my friend's GPS to 4.2, since then all works OK, even the Language Guide which had stopped working with v 4.6 installed.

nuvi 750 firmware rollback

Thanks Roger. We will see how badly 4.60 works on my unit.

Did you just save a copy of what was installed on the nuvi, then recopy those file back to the nuvi?

Although I thought that the language guide would be useful, I find that a pocket size printed translator is much better (at least for me). So, if all it affects is the language guide, I don't care.

Downlevel SW

I'm not sure it breaks the rules to post another site here, but if you Google nuvi 4.20 software downgrade and look you'll find a place where you can download prior versions of Garmin SW listed by models (from a non-Garmin site). I think I originally found the link to that site here, but I can't recall what discussion link it was posted in. Disclaimer: I'm not recommending you use the site Google sends you to, but it does offer that option if you feel a compelling need to go back to a previous version.

Firmware

The firmware you are after is here:
http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi7xx_regionfileonly__420.g...

Then go here:

View the page source for installation instructions.

v4.2 Firmware

I loaded 760 v4.2 firmware from here:

http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/nuvi/

and it seems to be working so far. The route optimization function is still broken on v4.2 and the currency converter works on logic that comes from Venus or somewhere, but the appalling lag and stutter I had on v4.1 is gone.
