question on the direction arrows

I am new to the 705 series. i found tha tmy unit is only showing one turning arrow in green in the upper left of the screen while you have multiple arrows in the manual pics. Do you know how to setup the nuvi to make it show more than the upcoming turn.

Thanks.

no set up required

It's only supposed to show the next upcoming turn. Not sure how you interpret the manual photo to show multiple turns, that's not how it works.

I Think You're Talking About....

The lane assist feature. This tells you what lane to be in and only works in some large cities at main highway intersections. Future map updates should improve on this.

I don't even think the lane assist feature works at all in Canada right now.

turns further along a route

If you are talking about looking at the turns further along a route, try this:

Be on a route (have a "Where to" destination set). Viewing the map, tap the next turn indication (in the top left corner on my nuvi 250). This will bring up a screen that shows the next intersection in top down view. If there are additional turns there should be a down arrow in the lower right corner. Tap this to scroll down through all of the turns to your destination.

thanks

Hum, take a look at the cover picture of the 755 manual and look at the arrows in the upper left green box. There is 5 arrows, two white and three gray.

I know there is one at a time when the unit is working and was wondering how they got this sort of screen display.

.

I believe that that graphic is displaying the lanes on the road not additional upcoming turns.

I see the same thing on my

I see the same thing on my 765t. It IS the lane assist, each arrow corresponds with a lane, the white ones are suggested lanes to be in.

Common sense

Common sense would tell you to keep in the left or right lane as indicated by the orientation of the next turn arrow shown on the top left hand corner of your Nuvi xx5 unit's screen.

it is NOT lane assist

the arrows in the upper left corner of the nuvi display is NOT the lane assist feature .. those are simply lane guidance for upcoming turns.

the lane assist feature only activates at complicated highway junction in major metro areas, and is an virtual image of the actual highway - signs and all.

wrong terminology

The arrow indicators which are displayed on the map screen in the upper left corner in the green section are both the "Next Turn" and "Lane Assist" features that share the same data field. The graphical representation of the upcoming junction in the screen shot linked to by djs is the "Junction View" screen.

Forget the terminology!

DorkusNimrod is correct, but you should probably forget terminology until you get used to what the stuff actually does! It's pretty cool.

The arrows in the upper left do tell you about upcoming turns, and when there is enough road info they will show you the road's lanes and which ones you want to be in. White lanes are what you want to be in, gray ones you don't.

If you touch these arrows, you go to the lane assist page.. an overhead view for smaller roads, or the junction view on larger or more complex ones. The overhead signs give you a sort of "heads up" of signs you might not be able to see yet, and the lanes have the massive purple arrow line overlaid on them to help as well.

You can see all of that in action if you simulate a route that takes you someplace on an interstate or a big multi-lane road. All from the comfort of your living room chair with a Gin & Tonic in your other hand. grin

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Arrows Really Help

The arrows are probably the best single feature for me on the 765T. So far, the lane identified by the Nuvi has been clearly labled and and has always turned out to be the correct lane for me to be in.

maybe I am off base here

but the OP seems to be under the impression that the example graphic of the upper left part of the nuvi screen (NOT the Junction View) as shown in the manual should appear on his unit all the time.

the number of lanes shown changes based on the area...in other words, on my 765T, if a road splits, and my options are to stay on the road, or take an exit, the number of lanes may only be two, with the correct one being highlighted in white, and the other one being grayed out.

on the other hand, if I am on an interstate, there may be multiple lanes that exit, and multiple lanes that continue, and this will be represented as multiple lanes being highlighted.

I hope that I understood the OP, and that this helps.
