(Avoid Traffic) MSN® Direct Services or Total Traffic Network

I'm trying to decide if I should buy the MSN® Direct Receiver / GDB 50 or just subscribe to Total Traffic Network. Has anyone tried the MSN Direct Service or NAVTEQ Traffic™?? How is it??

Clear Channel FM

My 765T came with lifetime FM. I bought the lifetime Clear Channel FM option for $60. On a recent trip thru Atlanta it directed me around an accident less than 2 hours old. I hope all cities have this type or response. Clear Channel has coverage of more cities than the FM included with my unit. They both use the same receiver.

thanks

I didn't know you could do that shock

I also have a 765T, and thought our only option was the ad supported NAVTEQ system.

I assume that you now have two choices in the Traffic settings, and must choose one or the other?

Lack of experience

I think I have both set on. I do not yet travel to many areas with traffic signals so I don't have much experience with it. I know I have not ever seen an ad yet, but that does not mean they did not show up just that I did not notice them.

Update

It is either both on or both off. You do not choose which one is on, just if traffic is on or not. Hope this helps.

Two traffic providers...

You can indeed have two traffic providers set up on one GTM-20 cable. One would be the free NAVTEQ Traffic & the other would be the $60 Lifetime TTN Traffic (Total Traffic Network/Clear Channel). You simply purchase the TTN $60 lifetime, get & enter the code and the two providers are listed under Tools/Settings/Traffic.

You do NOT (at least under the 7x5 firmware v2.50) have the option though to select between the two as there is only an "Enable Traffic" selection box. I also am not sure which has priority when you have two. There have been times where I've gotten the ads (NAVTEQ) for about a week or so using the 765, then stopped getting them on the 765 after I used my 760 on that same traffic cable.

I was thinking they would be radio style buttons that would require a choice of one or the other, like the 3D view versus 2D Track Up. Instead they must be check boxes like the Avoidances, allowing for multiple choices.

Good to know cool

Thanks DorkusNimrod

I had posted my other comment relating to Panache's post before I saw yours.

If MSN Direct is available then you should get MSN. It is far more superior than NAVTEQ or Clear Channel. I had Clear channel with 760 in the bignning but their traffic flow info was useless. Then early December 2008 I heard that MSN Direct enhanced their service. I got GDB 50 and I have no regrets.
