Mother-In-Law's POI file

Ok, my wife tells me that I don't visit my mother-in-law often enough.

I told my wife I entered her mother's address into my GPS once and for some reason, the GPS couldn't find it.

So I'm thinking that it might make a good project for someone on POI FACTORY to start a new POI project, listing all our mother-in-law's addresses.

I figure we could use some left over Halloween icons for the POI package.

Just a thought.

Anybody interested in undertaking such a project?

One caveat .... since I came up with idea, whomever takes on the mother-in-law project would have to back me up that my mother-in-law's address can not be found, at least by any of the GPS currently on the market.

I mean, hey, a good POI file doesn't have to have ALL the locations, right?

Honey, I don't know what to

Honey, I don't know what to tell you.

I loaded the Mother-in-law's POI file into my GPS ... and well, your mother's location isn't listed.

I guess we'll just have to wait a week or two to visit and see if anybody ever updates the POI file to list her.

I'm sorry.

I tried.

And I promise to log onto POI FACTORY often to check for updates.

Honest, I will.

Avoidance

Hey, lets make the list and then incorporate it into the avoidance list! You know keep it right there with the toll roads, etc. except it would not be optional and would always be active. "Sorry hon but I just can't seem to find my way and the GPS is no help at all!"

Officer I'm sorry I was going the wrong way on that one-way street but my GPS told me to turn left ... Oh, I'm still getting a ticket, okay then the GPS will see ya in court!

>>>avoidance list I like it!

>>>avoidance list

I like it!

No more u-turns, toll roads & in-laws!

Yup, I'd check them all! Ha!

Think how much faster some of our trips would be!

And of course, in the spirit

And of course, in the spirit of fairness, I'd give my wife the right to avoid my relations.

Hmmm.

Would that need a separate avoidance category? One for "his" mother-in-law and one for "her" mother-in-law?

Why?

Why would you need a POI . . . my mother-in-law is one of my "favorites." (That's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

I tried

I tried and it said that does not compute any attempt to over ride and I would be assemul;)ated

Mother-in-Law POI

I put my mother-in-laws address in and when I get close to the turn the 660 says recalculate and directs me on down the road to Wal Marts. I like my mother-in-law when she is far far away. grin

Oh man, John, sounds like your Walmart POI file somehow got corrupted ... maybe you should try to reload the poi file?

Er, on second thought, maybe your GPS is working correctly.

Putting my mother-in-law's coordinates in my GPS usually redirects me to the nearest drinking place.

Your GPS ..or.. your mother-in-law?

OR

Your GPS AND your mother-in-law?

Yeah, probably the latter.

If only there was some way to deactivate the voice prompts and replace them with just a "beep."

I Love My Mother-In-Law!

I've been married over a decade. My mother-in-law lives 2,000 miles away in another country, and I have never even met her yet!

Grush>>another country, and

Grush>>another country, and I have never even met her yet

Come Grush ... that's no excuse. Another country?

We (GPS owners) don't fear no stinkin' other country ... we (GPS owners) just buy the Map for the other country and head off into the sunset to visit our mother-in-law!

Ha!

Hang on a sec, CB. I'm still stuck on you giving your wife the right to avoid your relations! Ya know, they got pills that'll stiffen your resolve!

Ha!

She's around Edmonton, AB and even though we've been to Calgary and Lethbridge, we've never gone the couple of hundred extra miles to Edmonton.

My wife isn't real close to her, she had foster parents for awhile growing up.

You know..the old crazy family thing.

O man

O man, Grush ... I'm sorry to hear that.

I mean, I like to joke about my in-laws but I hate to hear about extranged families. Makes it tough on kids and parents.

FYI ... I was in Edmonton a couple weeks ago, enroute while flying to Fort McMurray, AB ... it was minus -38F.

And no, your mother-in-law wasn't in my "favorites" on my GPS. Ha!

Too bad you couldn't have put her in your POI's and visted her and let me know what to expect...hehe.

I'm glad our cold here is tempered by the Great Lakes and extreme cold is rare. Tons of snow though.

One of our daughters lived in Ft. Mcmurray for a few years....it was very cold. She lives around Kelowna, BC now and is much happier.

Mothers-in-law POI

I loaded the Mothers-in-law POI and every time I drive near her address, I get a vocal alert saying "You're not GOOD enough for my daughter!"

Just kidding! Actually, I have a GREAT Mother-in-law. Now my ex-MIL would be the one I would want to avoid!

I plan to live forever. So far, so good.

With the help of my GPS

With the help of my GPS, I just returned from a quick PLEASURE trip.

I just took my mother-in-law to the airport.

I had the GPS set to calculate the "quickest" route.

It worked like a charm.

God I love my GPS.

Hey, be nice

Without your mother-in-law, you won't have your lovely wife, agree?

Agree

Agree

Just don't start any fights.

During a heated arugument:
her, "you never notice my hair, you don't notice my new outfits..."
him, "yes I do. As a matter of fact, I like your new hair style."
her, "I got it six months ago! You don't even like any of my family."
him, "that's not true at all. As a matter of fact, I like all of your in-laws much better than my in-laws!"

Mother-In-Law

I gotta agree with you BobDee that mothers-in-law get a bad rap. Most people I know do love their in-laws. Your spouse was raised by her parents and has probably picked up a lot from them. If your in-laws were that bad you probably wouldn't have picked your spouse.

Of course there are always exceptions to the rule!
