Garmin Online ??? Internet on GPS..how long ?

When i hit the Garmin Online prompt on my GPS and select active subscriptions, i get :
Safety Camera Trial
Traffic: US
Traffic: Europe
Fuel Prices: US
Flight Status
Local Search (they use google)
Photo Navigation
and activations i get :
Free Subscription
with a large Activate button with a visit garmin to get your activation key etc.
How long does Garmin Online last ? do they charge for "activating" it and how much does it cost ?
i like the weather reports on the GPS and the google search which allows google POIs to be directly fed into the GPS. traffic is meh since i have a traffic RX and the flight status is also something i dont care about. I havent tried fuel prices yet.
Garmin Online
I have Garmin Online on my Garmin Mobile XT. It does not appear as if they charge any fees for any of these services here in the United States. There was no fee for activating it either. Try the fuel prices and see what you think. I have this on my Pharos GPS Phone 600. I connect via wifi at home since I haven't activated my SIM card for phone voice or data minutes yet. I am actually sort of surprised that they haven't created a stand alone connected Garmin GPS yet. I read today that Tom Tom will have a connected GPS available soon. I was also wondering if there is a way to get the Garmin Online data directly on my computer without my Garmin Mobile XT, but I haven't found a way to do that yet. It has also been interesting playing with these various searches:
-Traffic--I am not sure if this is the same data as MSN Direct
-Weather--Custom Weather, Inc.
-Google--Local Search
-Panoramio Photos-Photo Navigation
-Fuel Prices
-Flight Status
It also looks like some newer units have added these MSN Direct features:

-Doppler Weather Maps

you can get it on your PC with Garmin Mobile PC.
how did you activate it ? did you get a separate activation code with your unit ? i only have the unit esn and map unlock codes.

Garmin Online
I just installed the Garmin Mobile XT card in the Pharos GPS Phone and once the software is launched there is a button on the lower left side of the display that shows a cloud. Click on that and it displays the Garmin Online selections
