Searching custom POI entries on GPS

I've searched and looked for an answer, most likely there is a terminology gap.

When I add a custom POI the points are not available using the POI 'search' function. Is this only for the built in POI's or will it work with GPX type files?

For instance, if I have a custom POI for a restaurant and I build a GPX file containing it will it show up when I search under the "restaurant" category? What if I had a GPX file with a 'new' category?

.

Custom POIs are only searchable from within the Custom List. The normal POI search will not look in the custom files.

custom poi

at the bottom of the page you can choose spell to look for a specific file.

I divide all my poi's into catagories - AUTO, FOOD, STORES, CAMERAS, WORK, FAMILY and others. I put the csv/gpx files in each folder. I am loading about 100,000. So the top line of each catagory is ALL or something when you look on the gps. It will then combine all the csv files in that folder (food) and show me the closest 50. So if I don't care if I eat at Wendy's, Burger King, Chipotle or whatever, it will just show me the closest 50 of my list. But if I am looking at Wendy's I can use spell for a city name to refine it.

But the factory poi and searches are separate from the custom pois. The two are separate and never interact.
