Garmin Lock... HELP!!!

I have Garmin Lock setup and I just entered my PIN incorrectly one time and it powered the unit off. Now it will not power back on.?.? What do I do to get this fixed? I tried connecting it to the PC but it still will not power on. I have a 260W.

You should be able to turn it on

Garmin Lock should not prevent the unit from powering up. I'd try resetting, but even that may not be possible if it won't power up. If not, call Garmin.

I have not gone to my unlock

I have not gone to my unlock location yet. I'll be there this afternoon and will let you know.

I don't think that has any effect on whether the unit powers on -- just whether the screen comes up to enter your PIN #.

Unlock location

If you go to your unlock location, it should power up without asking for PIN. You should be within 30 feet of the spot where you entered as home.

does not sound right

question
some thing does not sound right i have a nuvi 5000 and a nuvi 200w and i have hit the wrong pin in and they have never turned off just said wrong pin wait a min and reinter the pin never turn off is the unit plug in the car or a usb ??? like my nuvi 5000 i have to have it plug in to the car or the usb for it to turn on so i don't know if this will help

nuvi 5000 & nuvi 200w

Garmin Lock

Does not sound like a Garmin lock problem. Sounds like a switch problem. If it does not power up when at the location then give Garmin a call.

Got it!!!

I was finally able to power on the unit again and then enter the PIN. It took about 2 hours and I had to have it connected to the PC.

I called Garmin and asked them about it also and they couldn't understand or explain why it happened.

Nick

Probably the battery was discharded

From your description, it sounds like the battery was discharged. I have had it happen once where I could not restart the GPSr in that condition without connecting to a PC and then waiting for it to obtain a partial charge. Even connecting to the cigarette lighter in the vehicle was not sufficient to start the unit.
