I have a Palm TX with Garmin Mobile 10 for Smartphones. It sort of turns the Palm TX into a nuvi, with added features, but somewhat different menus in different places.
Does anyone know if Mobile XT is supposed to be able to do "Tour Guide" alerts within circular proximity? I got alerts working with icon and text banner for regular on route Custom POI's by enabling continuous alerts for everything, but sound is just a double beep rather than mp3 included with POI's. Maybe that is because mp3's are played by applications instead of the OS.
But a Tour Guide for geocaches that alerts with banner and mp3 chime on my nuvi, in Mobile XT just displays the bmp icon when in the proximity, but no text, POI name, or audio alert. Although, when you look up a specific POI nearby in "Extras" it does show complete multipage color text properly word wrapped whether the screen is horizontal or vertical.
So in a way Mobile XT can use Tour Guides to provide plenty of text data if you look them up, but you have to be watching for their icons and hope it is not auto zoomed out too far to see them during a long route between turns, because Tour Guides in Mobile XT do not seem to alert.
