Nuvi 255w Voltage

I have the nuvi 255w and would like to use a wall (ac) charger for my unit but cannot find the required voltage. I have a cell phone charger that puts out 5.0v and want to know if this would work. Have checked garmin website and owners manuals neither lists required voltage.

Output

I bought an A/C charger from Garmin. This is what is printed on the label on the unit:

A/C imput:100-240V - 50/60 Hz 0.3A

DC output: 5.0V---1.0 A5W LPS

I hope this helps. I belive that this charger will work with all the 2xx Nuvis

Paul..... Nuvi 765T

Thanks that's exactly what

Thanks that's exactly what my cell phone charger is also.

Cell phone charger...

Your cell phone charger connected to the nuvi will likely just put it in USB Mass Storage mode (nuvi connected to a PC will show up on the main screen). The Garmin branded charger will not do this but will power the nuvi on (as it is externally power by your car) and will charge the battery when the nuvi is turned off. This is considered "proper" operation for an external AC power adapter/charger.
