Just saw a seller on eBay offering Nüvi 880's @ US $538.98 each, with free shipping. The seller says there are 112 units for sale...
Check it out...
Nüvi 670 & 880
Mac Pro & OS 10.5.4
I wonder if "Profootspa" is an authorized retailer? Can't beat the price, and the feedback seems positive!!
I bought my 880 about 3 weeks ago on eBay from another seller, and got it for $525.00 shipping included...
Hmmm.. Sounds like they managed to knock off another delivery truck in the bronx...
I'm always reluctant to buy from someone who hasn't yet decided who or what the company will be all about.
My main point was that Garmin does not recognize warranties from unauthorized retailers.
It really comes down to buyer beware when buying from eBay. Search the forums if you want specifics.
LOL. Buy an 880 and get a free foot massage.
Personally afraid to spend that kind of money on Ebay. Read too many stories of fraud and electronics knock offs from China that do not really work.
According to them, they are a Garmin Authorized dealer. I wonder.
The only one listed on the Garmin website in Waltham is http://www.westmarine.com.
Could be the same company, but I doubt it.
West Marine is a huge chain. The Wal-Mart for Boaters. I doubt they are selling nuvis on ebay.
Well, I purchased my Nuvi880 from E-bay. No problems with the product and fast shipping. I purchase from E-bay all the time, I have yet to have a problem.
I look for the following when dealing with E-bay sellers.
1. Numerous total feedback (500 minimum)
2. Positive feedback (95% or greater)
3. I review comments for his/her negative feedback
4. Sellers options to purchase (must accept a credit card)
As I said, no problems so far.
Where do you see this in the listing? I don't see it. The seller says a Garmin warranty is included. That may just mean that the GPS box comes with the slip of paper in it outlining the warranty; it doesn't mean that Garmin will honor the warranty.
I don't know Garmin's policy and practice, but many electronics makers only honor their warranty if you have a receipt from a factory authorized seller, and they do check if you need warranty service, so you may want to check further before leaping here.
Garmin doesn't care if the retailer is "factory authorized". But Garmin doesn't have any authorized dealers that sell through auction sites.
From their support site:
Question: Does Garmin have any authorized dealers on eBay or any other online auction site?
Garmin does not have any authorized dealers that sell new products directly on online auction sites.
However, you MUST have a retail receipt in order to get warranty service. They absolutely will not honor a receipt from an auction.
To obtain warranty service, an original or copy of the sales receipt from the original retailer is required. Online auction confirmations are not accepted for warranty verification, and Garmin will not replace missing components from any package purchased through an online auction.
So, just be sure that the vendor provides you with a retail receipt.
