Nuvi 880 Media Player - Album Art

On my 880 the Music Player has a window frame in the upper right corner for Album Art to be displayed. But nothing shows when a song is playing even though there is Album Art in the folders where the songs reside.

When I run the songs through Windows Media player it will automatically go out and bring back Album Art and place the icons in the songs folder.

When I then transfer the songs/art over to the Mini-SD and play the music the Album art does not show.

However on two folders the Album Art does show but it looks like a reverse 35ml negative.

The art file names are;
AlbumArt_{12CADDAF-B8F5-4FA1-9842-B4B5C673E1D0}_Large.jpg
AlbumArt_{12CADDAF-B8F5-4FA1-9842-B4B5C673E1D0}_Small.jpg
AlbumArtSmall.jpg
Folder.jpg

There is also the Thumbs file - Thumbs.db

A couple other folders have - desktop.ini in them.

Now the question;
What format, if there is one, do these files have to be to get the art to show?

I’ve already tried;
tif – bmp 256 color bmp & dib – 24-bit bmp & dib – jpg – pcx – png – tga and gif

Thanks for any suggestions

Embed Art in ID3 Tag

You need to embed the album art in the id3 tag for each song.

The problem is that Windows Media Player doesn't embed the art in the id3 tag, it just creates a jpg folder for each album. As you discovered.

However, most mp3 players, including the Nuvis, will only show album art if it is embeded in the id3 tag.

There are various free programs available to get the album art in the id3 tags. I personally use Media Monkey.

If you search this forum for "album art" you will get some prior discussions on this subject.

Thanks for the tip/Info

Thanks to a link in an old posting by jgracey http://www.poi-factory.com/node/10766 - Associate MP3 With Album Art/Picture

I followed his link provided below and got a great, easy and FREE tool that did exactly what I wanted with just a few very easy clicks.

The other functions are yet to be learned and used.
