Custom Alerts on Nuvi 260?

I've followed exactly the directions on http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/pagepoi.02.htm#... to convert audio files to wav format and load them into my Nuvi 260, but I'm still not getting anything other than the default pings or bongs when the unit alerts.

Just curious if anyone else has followed the directions exactly but still had a hard time getting the custom alerts to work. More importantly, how did you finally get them to work for you, if you did?

Thanks

Some have had better luck using another sox exe see node http://www.poi-factory.com/node/16728

On the nuvi 270 I finally got them to work by using a previous version of the sox.exe program...which is necessary for *.wav files to be read. Also recheck all your *.wav files to make sure they conform to the needed format and that somehow they weren't saved in a different format after you made the conversions. I would also recommend you remove all custom POIs.... by setting up a new folder with a single alert POI file in it...and load that single one into the nuvi. Then simulate a drive to the nearest POI with the alert, and test each part of your assumptions if the single POI doesn't work.

Better Luck Indeed

Thanks charlesd45.

That was exactly the correct solution to get the Nuvi 260 to work.
