GPX to OV2

Is there a way to convert a gpx to an OV2 file? I have routes saved from my Nuvi 760 that are in GPX format that I want to use on a GO730.

Or...is there a way to make a route in TomTom software where you can make a specific route and not let the gps change it? I liked that feature on the 760. I'm not sure if the TT Itineraries works the same.

You could use any number of converters to convert the gpx to csv, then use 'POI Verifier II' to convert the csv to OV2. The new 'one-step' option reconfigures the csv to the format required for TomTom's OV2, 'sucks' out any phone number in field 4 & attaches it to field 3, then converts it to OV2.

Would this work for a Route though? It probably depends on the amount of detail you want to retain in the computed route.

GPSBabel might be a possibility?

Lots of good suggestions. I'll give it a try when my GPS arrives next week.

routing

Yes you can make a route in TT by creating waypoints..specifically you tell your TT to route you by way of a city or place you want to go. Once you get that done the TT won't change it.

GPS utility will do it but the unregistered version will only do 100 waypoints.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

Thanks retiredtechnician...again.

I had your program on my computers before and I really appreciate the convert a csv to ov2 you put on the new version. I'm glad I kept that XP partition on my Mac.

I haven't tried the gpx to ov2 yet. I'm still trying to learn TomTom's way of doing things.

Re: GPX to OV2

You can also do this for a route, just convert it to an itinerary (extension *.itn).

POIEdit 2007 can help you do this.

(It is free smile)

In the itinerary, you can define both waypoints and destinations, in specific order. You can use different routing options for each leg, as you go.

Once you get the hang of it, you might want to check TYRE, a great program that helps you define routes from your computer using Google maps.
