Whatever Floats Your Boat

If you like it, buy it. I don't see the point of having a GPS without a battery. You might as well buy a built-in unit.

BTW - punctuation is your friend.

.

The 5000 sounds like it's meant to be left in a vehicle full time...like a semi. The 5.2" screen is nice, but it seems this unit isn't quite as versatile as others. Maybe a 780 instead?

You may want to compare the 5000 to the 7XX and 8XX series...

I got this from Garmins web site, since you have the Wini you might like it! For your car It wouldn't be a good fit though.

Bob

Get big-time navigation and mapping with the large screen nüvi 5000. This super-sized navigator is designed for RV and truck drivers and gives a big picture of the route ahead without obstructing your view. It features a whopping 5.2 inch display, preloaded maps, an FM transmitter and lots of entertainment features for fun on the open road.

Miss POI

i will look into the 780. It

i will look into the 780. It is the same price at Best Buy but i willnever use the MSN because it costs 10 bucks monthly and here in south jersey it gets service but the problem were i might be travelling in the near future (Witchita Falls TX, Dallas, and for most the country there is a little service except around cities were there is alot of service. As for no battery that is a drag. What are the difference between the 5000 and the 780?

The thing is i will probably get 2 mounts and 3 wires (2car wires and one in home wire) and mount one in the RV and put the other one in my wifes minivan. I would use it but i work in North Philly with a Chevy conversion van so... preety much if i wanted a walking around one i wuld get a nuvi 200 on a good sale altho im not sure yet. Any other suggestions??

The 600 series is great as well depending on what you need for features. But, that's the key isn't it? What do you need? A personal choice there...

Any Garmin folk care to chime in?
