POI Newbie; Want to Gain Active Status

Brand new here and looking to enhance our new Garmin Nuvi 760 with some POI's other than the standard fare. Upgraded from Nuvi 360 by necessity, not by choice. Had car vandalized while on vacation last week and the "old" one was stolen.

Very much interested in the red light camera POI since I travel for business.

When we called Garmin to assist with map uploading issue, I asked about knowing any websites to obtain additional software. Tech told me there were a few, but the best he'd seen was POI factory. I'm hoping to get better acquainted with my new unit and its capabilities. I'm not extremely technical. Anything anyone can suggest (as "nice to have") that would be helpful for a person in medical equipment sales who travels by car in southern half of Ohio would be appreciated.

If you want to pay 5 bucks you can down load the red-light camera and speed camera pois now...

Or you can help the site and join for a year for just $20... I feel it's worth it...

Check out the pois I'm sure you will find some that interest you..

And welcome to the site..

Welcome to the site. Be sure to read through the 'getting started' and 'faqs' sections linked at the top of each page. Those sections will provide you with TONS of information.

You might want to download the "Rest Areas Combined" file which will give you all the rest areas around the country.

Then take a look at the Alphabetical Listing of the POI files and you will get a sense of what type of files are here.

Newbies aboud

I am new here as well and look forward to exploring all the GPS options that this site has to offer. I have never tried to add POI's to my GPS before so it should be interesting trying to figure it out.

Thanks in advance to all those that upload and post to help out others. I hope I am able to be able to contribute as well in the near future.

Welcome to the site...

Just follow motorcycle mama's advice above and enjoy...

Newbies

I am a recent newbie and at first felt overwhelmed by the downloads and volumes of information. Just surf around the whole site and it will take no time at all to find what your looking for and how to do it. Welcome aboard!!!

That rest area POI is an awesome file. I drive a lot from Phoenix to LA all the time and the rest stops in between if I want to take a bathroom break or a breather are sometimes far and between. It's nice to know if one is coming up or decide if I can hold my pee for another 50 miles or something. hehe... If you do a lot of commuting by car, it's an awesome tool!

Just keep reading the discussion on here and something will strike your interest. Rest stops are of interest to everyone one. You can browse around and find your interests. I just got back from the beach and my wife and I go looking for lighthouses. That's not for everyone one. You find what you want and someone here will have some advice.
