2009 Maps

On my Nuvi 760 it dispalys the speed limit on the map page.
Since I've updated to 2009 maps there are many inaccuracies in the speed limits.
2009 maps show many more secondary road speed limits. 2008 maps only displayed highways.
On a recent trip to Asheville NC is where I found many errors.

These were speed limits that have been the same for many years.

Anybody else notice this anomaly?

Very few speed errors in Illinois

I have seen very few speed limit errors since I upgraded to 2009 maps.

A few in MD and VA as well

Personally, I do not like this feature. I am very capable of seeing speed limit signs on the road. I would much prefer that my actual vehicle speed be displayed instead.

Perhaps since your vehicle

Perhaps since your vehicle speed is always readable regardless of what's on your GPS, they decided that the speed limit would be a more useful display. An option would probably be nice.

Appreciated feature

I actually appreciate this feature on secondary roads. There are occasions where I enter a secondary road and don't see a speed limit sign for a while and sometimes I actually miss seeing the sign. It is nice to to have this feature as a backup to the posted signs. I don't necessarily need to see my current speed on my GPS as a default since I have a speedometer in my car to perform that function. That would just be redundant information IMO.

I might be wrong but doesnt

I might be wrong but doesnt the vehicle speed get replaced with arrival time when you punch in a destination?

I travel down 85 and 40 to Franklin periodically and have found that the unit is quite accurate on the main highways and most secondary roads.

I believe that some of them are off because of what was reported to them or they made a best-guess based on the road type and population density.

The speed limit indicator on the screen

He was talking about the speed limit that is displayed on the screen, not the speed/eta that is displayed in the lower-left.

However, your comment was right-on.

Spped limits on 750?

I haven't been able to display speed limits on my 750. Is this a feature I'm missing or a toggle I haven't found.

I'd love to be able to either display the speed limits or set a warning when the speed limit is exceeded by a certain amount like maybe 15kmh. Ideally I could do both.

The addition of speed limit sign icons came with the 2009 map update. With the 2008 maps, only the very few major roads had speed limit signs on the main display. With 2009, almost all roads have it. It's just a display, though. You can't set any alerts like you were asking. Use that thing between your ears in the meantime. wink

Yup, fair enough! However, on my motorcycle, when wearing my full-face helmet I can't see the speedo without actually moving my head down. Until I get a mount for the GPS I carry it in my pocket so an audible alert would have been handy to have.

I haven't seen those speed limit signs yet and have been running the 2009 map for 1 month now. Maybe I need to use Most Map detail? I've been using Normal.
