Harkins Theatres is a cherished family‑owned cinematic institution founded in 1933 by Dwight “Red” Harkins in Tempe, Arizona. As the largest independent theater chain in the U.S. and the seventh-largest exhibitor in North America, it’s renowned for delivering the "Ultimate Moviegoing®" experience—with luxurious leather reclining seats, state-of-the-art laser projection and Dolby Atmos/CINÉ XL or IMAX screens, in-lobby bars and gourmet concessions, and playful touches like Loyalty Cups and PlayCenters for kids. Beyond blockbusters, Harkins champions art films and local culture through its Art Film Society and by hosting regional film festivals, while maintaining a deep community connection built on nearly 90 years of innovation, quality, and hospitality.
