Garmin SD Memory Cards

Hi all just joined up and would to ask about memory cards. How much is adequate(spelling???)is 2gb's overkill if you want to combine poi's,mp3,city guides, etc. or should they all be separate go to costco and buy a bunch of 512mb's and label them, hope I'm making sense.
Thanks.

Memory -

Welcome to the site. I use a 4 Gb card in mine. So many MP3s, so little memory.

sd cards

I installed a 4gig memory card in my 660 and it works fine. As long as your unit has the capacity why not use a large memory card rather than run out of capacity in the future. These large memory cards are not that expensive.

Memory cards

Quite often Sears will have 4 gig SD cards on sale for $20. It's what I use in my Garmin Colorado 440t.

Memory

With computer memory, more is almost always better. Even if you think you won't ever use that much memory just give things a little while and you will use it up.

Those of us old folks remember years ago that Bill Gates once said that nobody would ever need a computer with more than 640 K (that is K, not megs or gigs) of memory!

SD Cards

I have a Garmin 200 and installed a 2g card in it. It cost me less than $10, delivered.

4GB

I installed a SanDisk 4GB HCSD in my 660 primarily to hole my mp3 music files. Works great and I still have room left. I just need to take the time to put more music files on it.

HCSD

Personally I would not get below 2GB. Garmin stated the nuvi now accepts unlimited GB HCSD so you can get what you need. If you decide to get the Europe DVD and load it to the card, I think you will need ~1.4GB for that alone. Then add all your music up up on top of that (maybe 500songs =2GB). Simple POI's are usually not too bad but TourGuide files can get pretty large. I'd get something to get your through at least 4 years because by then you might want to upgrade you gps since I'm sure they will be pretty advanced by then.

SD Memory

Thanks everyone for the info, I have a 4gb and an 8gb card will try both.
