Hi
I just got my 255W, replacing 370. So first time with non-folding attenna. I also got the flip case. The antenna bar is along the top of the unit. But I seem to keep the satellites even when unit is both in case and in my pants pocket. And as soon as I go indoors, it tells me that I lost the satellite. So are the signals able to penetrate leather and cloth?
Would I get faster initial acquistion outside the case? (I ask, because acquiring walking in Manhattan, never sure if slow acq. is Nuvi or tall buildings).
TIA. If this is a FAQ,please point me to place, I could not find search words that narrowed things down enough,
Neal
Sorry
Just answered myself, now that I can get satellite reception indoors, I have confirmed that leather case does not impede sattelite reception at all.
This makes the flip case for the garmin much more useful than the slip case (at least for those of us who use the Nuvi on foot).
