Hungry teen...

Driving back from a weekend outing, my teen son eloquently says, "Hungry! Burger!"

Thanks to the GPS and POI files, a few button presses shows we're five minutes away from an In-n-Out burger (our favorite), saving him from certain starvation!

Never had em

I know they are only in the SW, never had them.
I've heard good things about them.

What are they similar to?

In-n-Out Burger

They're still family run, so there are a lot of little things they do -- like turning spuds into fries right there in front of you, not using frozen meat patties, friendly staff. They have a limited menu, and they do it well. They also seem to treat employees well -- so you get service with a smile, people that remember you, and actually seem to be alert, alive, and happy to be there!

I still laugh at this, more than a week later.

"hungry. Burger."
I too prefer the local places, instead of chains. A friend of mine and I will seek those little places out when driving. He has another friend that goes to NASCAR races with him. His other friend drives him nuts, because he will only eat at chains.

I've heard of In-N-Out Burger, but it's got to be more than 20 years since I've been in the Tuscon area. (I want to remember going to one there - not sure though now - I was much younger then, and have doubled my age since then.) redface

And now, back to your regularly scheduled forum - already in progress . . .

Audio Alert

Maybe you can get your son to say "hungry. Burger" record it and send it to Miss POI as an mp3 audio alert file to post on the website.

Its short, sweet & to the point. Its generic and could be used with any burger POI file.

I ate at the San Francisco

I ate at the San Francisco one about 6 months ago it was alright for fast food but didn't blow me away the service was good and the menu was limited and sensible. I am from NY so I don't get to go to them alot

have u ever looked on the

have u ever looked on the bottom of the cups. They have bible references. Refreshing to see these days.

I missed my opportunity

We visited my daughter & son-in-law in Tucscon (actually Sahuarita, AZ) and drove by the In and Out Burgers, but we never stopped. Will have to try it out on our next visit. I bought them a Garmin 650 and they use it all the time. Unfortunately, it doesn't give them the construction detours on their major highway.

They have pecan groves near their house, the way we (New England) have apple orchards. We enjoyed a few pecan pies during our visit.

Animal Style

Next time at an In-and-Out try your burger or fries "animal style". It's a little thing that's not on the menu. It's been awhile since I've been so don't remember everything but think it's grilled onions, thousand island dressing and some other stuff. I like it on my Double-Double and the wife likes it on her fries.

We have one across the highway in the winter

and it makes a good lunch stop. We stay at a Suites Hotel on the corner of Yorkshire & 27th Ave in Phoenix during the winter and make meals in our suite in the evening but the In-n-Out is too convenient across the street to walk to. Of course we also have the Deer Valley Mall with 8 or 10 other eating places within a 5 minute walk. Don't move the car for days sometimes. Great on $4 gas.

Not like Sonic

In-n-Out only have Hamburgers, fries Coke & Malts. Sonic has a larger menu.

I love

In-n-Out. There aren't any here in Texas, but when I go to Vegas, I always stop and get one. or 2. or 3

A "Hungry! Burger!" alert sound could rival for the most downloaded file here.
