I have a kenwood DNX7100, and I recently downloaded the CrackerBarrel files and loaded them into DNX7100.
It all loaded in fine, and I can find them in favorites, but I assumed that when I am travelling a route, that I would get an alert when I am near or passing a CrackerBarrel. I've checked my settings and I have alerts set on.
Anyone know if I've missed something or did the CrackerBarrel file not have proximity alerts?
If you downloaded custom poi file for Cracker Barrel they should not be in your favorites unless that is what you wanted. If you used poi loader to download to your gps just go back and reload the files but this time select manual mode instead of express on the poi loader. You will get a selection to set distance you want the pois to alert you at.
My bad, I should have said My Locations.
Thanks for the information. I've created a new file, and I'll check if it works the next time I pass by a cracker barrel
I have had the Cracker Barrel file for a while and have tried the alerts from VA to FL.Don't expect to get alert for every Cracker Barrel you pass unless you are on the same street or the coordinates are not set more then 50 ft off the road. The alert does not work based on a radius. Before I learned about how the alert worked I didn't understand why I was not getting alerted while on I95 and I could see the Cracker Barrel sign off the interstate. That is why the rest stops coordinates were moved closer to the entrance so those alerts would work..
I downloaded the WALMART POI file (theres a few more Walmarts than cracker barrels), and ran thru the poi loader as you described, setting the alert distance to 1000 ft. Now I get the alert, so that part works fine. Now I need to understand how the alert works, because I did notice that alert goes off in some directtions but not others.
See this thread http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6764 .Keep in mind that if the coordinates are off the road in most cases over 50 ft you will not get the alert. The thread above will explain.Make sure to read Alert Implementations.
