Overlay Cycle Path on Nuvi 350

Is it possible to overlay a city's cycle path system on the existing map of a Nuvi?

No, only the 7xx will allow

No, only the 7xx will allow you to put custom routes.

To do this, you would need to create your own (transparent) map.

The basic idea, would be to a take a scanned paper map, or a screen print from Google Earth etc and 'trace' over the cycle path, using one of several, map production programs.
Personally, I recommend MAPMAN
arrow http://www.mapman.org.uk, as the easiest starting point (though it maybe has fewer features than its competitors).

The o/p from the map program is a ".mp" file representing the path as a series of discrete points. This is then converted to Garmin format, using arrow http://cgpsmapper.com

The 'red' roads on these two maps illustrate the sort of effect you can get.
