sirf chipset?

My Nuvi 760 says Sirf xxxxxx on the splash screen as it starts up, I am not sure if it is really saying it uses a Sirf chipset, or if it uses licensed technology from Sirf to process what Garmin's receiver provides.Does anyone here know?

My understanding is that they use the actual hardware. Apparently some of the 7xx numis don't and there was a lot of discussion about this last fall on these boards.
