Editing .gpi's...?

Tried searching the boards, but haven't found anything -- feel free to point me in the right direction if this has already been answered.

Basically, I want to know if there is any easy way to edit .gpi's? POIEdit doesn't seem to be able to do anything to .gpi's unless I'm mistaken, and opening in notepad yields unreadable characters.

Also, I was wondering how you go about grouping similar POIs under a specific category? I used POI Loader to load a few POIs (geocaches) to my Nuvi and they simply got dumped in there individually, as opposed to them being grouped together in a submenu/category (like the Offbeat Tourist Attractions). I'd also like to change their name thats displayed to something more recognizable (lists their waypoint code... i.e. GC170YZ)

Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately, it

Unfortunately, it hasn't.

Going off your example, I did away with the .gpi files I put on the Nuvi (670 if it matters), and created various subdirectories like your example showed. From there I placed the .gpx files I had in there. Now, it can't find any POIs on the unit at all.

can the Nuvi 670 utilize .gpx files directly from the unit, or do they have to be in the form of .gpi? Personally, I dislike the POI Loader and would much rather do everything manually.

Thanks!

Finally have it figured

Finally have it figured out...

I was creating the hierarchy directly on the nuvi and placing the .gpx files in there... finally dawned on me to setup the hierarchy (w/ .gpx files inside) and point POI Loader to it to create the .gpi file from that.

Thanks for the help smile
