Displaying Album Art on the Garmin nuvi 660

Hello,

Was just wondering if anybody knew how to do this? I thought the album art would automatically show up if the mp3 file already had the album art within the file. I am using iTunes. If anyone can shed some light on this topic, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.

Album Art

On my 660, I got the album art to show up just by putting a jpg file in the MP3 directory that holds the albums. I have each album under a single \MP3\ directory, with a playlist in each album directory.

Album art automatically

Album art automatically appears for most of my mp3s in my nuvi 660. No extra jpgs added. However I used Musicmatch Jukebox to rip all of my personal CDs to mp3 at some point, and all had the album art info updated from an internet database during the creation process. A few miscellaneous mp3s I acquired in other ways don't have album art though.

Nuvi MP3 album art

I have a NUVI 350 which claims to be able to display album art and, in fact, the pre-loaded files that came with the nuvi 350 did diplay album art. I was able to copy my MP3 files from itunes on my computer to the NUVI and they play just fine, but I have had no luck in getting the jpg files from itunes to show up on the nuvi.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Nuvi Album Art

I downloaded an MP3 tagging program from download.com. They have several free programs. Then I copied album art and used the tagging program to assign the album art to the song.

Thanks for the tip. I went to download.com and found a program "fixtunes.exe" that claims to allow album art to be associated with mp3 files.

I haven't tried it yet, but sounds like you have had success with nuvi 350?

MP3Tag

I use MP3tag to embed cover art into the mp3's. So the album art shows up on iTunes, Ipod and my Nuvi350.

What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded MP3tag and used it to look at the files I already loaded from itunes to my nuvi 350.
MP3tag show the album art associated with the file(s) on the nuvi350, but the nuvi 350 doesn't show the album art when I play the MP3! The nuvi 350 just shows the default "note icon" where the album art should be.

Just a guess, but perhaps

Just a guess, but perhaps the nuvi is first looking at version 1, instead of version 2 (forgot the two versions, but you know what I mean). Perhaps if you have text for both, that you need to erease version 1 stuff.

Did you have to name the jpg file the same as the Album directory?

Ooops! I'm new at this. I think I messed up the thread on my previous post.

album art

I use a program called "TagIt", and I found that I needed to associate the jpg file with the "other" picture tag, and not the "cover" tag. Don't know why it worked that way, but it did.

I use Audio Shell

http://www.softpointer.com/AudioShell.htm

pretty simple ID3 editor. Assign a jpg to use as cover art, make comments, edit all the fields, artist, album, year, genre, track etc.

handles various formats, and it's freeware.
