How to make supplementary maps for Nuvi 350

Nuvi 350 has the capability of adopting supplementary maps on SD card, according to the menu. Since I bought the unit recently, I've been trying to find ways to make Adirondacks trails maps, but no avail so far. If you have tried and succeeded, would you mind sharing? thanks in advance.

Please keep us up to date. I would also like to know how to do this. I would like to use my nuvi 750 out on the mounting biking trails. Maybe download a arial photo or even a topo map and then display my current location.
