Is there anyway to make a poi file or something that will give a speed alert for the hole highway that you are on if you exceed the speed limit and not just the poi location but the complete road?
I though that I had read something about this on the site before. I've tried looking on the site but didn't come up with anything.

No, Custom POI alerts are discrete points. The only cover the specified range of distance. You would have to set up a series of points on each roadway for which you wanted to be alerted.

Some GPS software packages offer that but it is not POI based. I used a GPS package on a treo and bluetooth reciever and had that feature.

you would have to just pick certain points along the roadway and and set alerts for those points. MapSource would be good for that. You could just make waypoints along the road or highway.

That's what I've done, just made an poi folder for each speed limit and picked different locations on hwy.

I wonder why that isn't available on new cars? you set the max speed you wanted and if you went faster a buzzer sounded...

That whould be great and I wonder why isn't it available on the GPS units. You would think that someone could wright a program for it to work on the GPS units.
