Chit Chat Thread for the week of May 19th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Sure hope you like cold, cloudy, rain for about 7 months out of the year. The summers are generally really nice but you pay for it the rest of the year.

Last week was not a good example as they set a record for heat but are back to normal now.

totally hump day

nasty

some must like that sort of weather

Given the population of Vancouver and Seattle there must be a lot of people who are allergic to the sun or who just like wet conditions.

Having said that, we won't mention that in January it is about 50-60 degree warmer there than here.

speaking of BBQ...

If any of you are interested in BBQ and happen to be in New York the weekend of June 7th, check out the Big Apple BBQ Block Party. It's mayhem, but you've got to attend this event at least one time to at least witness the sea of people that flood this event every year--it's quite a sight. I've gone to this event several times and it was a fun each time.

My advice: Lines can be excruciatingly long so go for the Bubba Pass if you can swing it and get there early each day.

[I am not associated with the event]

speaking of BBQ...

Just finished up with the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.

Normally, if I call someone a COW on Monday, my week does not go well. Guess I just don't have the power that you do Miss POI.

Just to clarify to any new people out there that might be reading this and getting the wrong impression.

We have a recognition program here on the site called the COW Awards which is short for Contributor of the Week.

This award is given out every Monday.

Even the Cheap Gas Stations

Even the Cheap gas stations are $4.05 here. Oops, did I say "cheap"?

--
sewisdom - Drive carefully. The life you save... may be someone who owes you money!

It's still relatively cheap

Here's an article.

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SavingandDebt/SaveonaCa...

Personally, I'm more worried about how quickly the price will increase than how much I'm paying today. shock

One interesting comment in the article. It talks about how gas is much cheaper than "other essential fuels," and mentions Starbucks venti latte and Budweiser beer. mrgreen

For a moment, I was hesitant to do that, lest Clark Kent's alter ego would come out of nowhere to kick my butt. smile

Being a Texan, I've never heard BBQ and NY used in the same sentence before. Next thing you know, they'll be trying to make chili.
