Nuvi 650 Cases

Hello everyone, I just joined this forum because of the great info I have been reading on here. Thought it would be a great place to solve a problem I am having.

I just purchased a Nuvi 650 and am having a heck of a time finding decent cases if any for my new unit to purchase. I live in the northwest where it rains daily. I want to install TOPO maps and use my GPS for trail hiking (Secondary use). However, I cannot find a case that will protect my Garmin on the trail. Rain resistance, and shock absorbing properties are much preferred. However, at the very least I want a skin that gives me open touch screen access just for around town.

Any ideas on what brands, manufacturers or products work with the Nuvi 650. I have already considered getting a second GPS for the outdoors, like the eTrex, but would still need a decent case for my Nuvi.

Nuvi 650 Cases

I've only found pouches and traditional carrying cases available; none of which allow for protected use of the unit. This site has a broad range of accessories. You may find something else that will work for you.

Someone on another site said that they use a sony PSP case. Not sure which one it was but stated it worked perfectly

What I did for a case for my Nuvi 200

I looked at cases to protect my Nuvi 200 and didn't really like the ones I saw online. Then one day I noticed something. The leather case for my old Palm Lifedrive (which had recently died but I kept the case) looked about the right size. I tried slipping it in and it fit like a glove. The case is just a little longer than the nuvi but works fine. I think that the widescreen units (like the 750 I want to eventually upgrade to) will also fit.

Perfect fit

OK, So I picked up a Nintendo DS case for my Garmin nuvi 760 today, and it was like it was made for it. Visited the local Walmart and there are several styles to choose from and all fit nicely with room for accessories depending on which case you buy.
