jester, be aware that the Custom audio alert sounds as MP3 file only work on units that have an MP3 player.

Your profile indicates that you have a nuvi 200 which does not have an MP3 player. You will get the default sound.

And as indicated, if you want alerts for your Custom POIs you must be sure to set the alerts when you load the files.

I am loading them as wav

I am loading them as wav files and it is working someone on here told me how to do it but im loading them in express and they are working fine i guess because they are using the default setting for alarm i dont know but it is working smile

Interesting! I haven't

Interesting! I haven't heard that you could use a wav file to make it alert. Yes, you are right, you can be in express mode as long as the files have some sort of indicator about speed.

Check out Phil's great guide for more information about alerts.

Hornbyp's guide to setting alerts with POI Loader
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6764

Regular POI files do not alert by default. You must SET an alert. You can do so in a variety of ways.

If you run POI Loader in Manual Mode instead of Express Mode, you can set whatever alerts you wish.

It's important to understand how the proximity alerts work on Garmin auto units.

The alerts (for the most part) do NOT function as a radius, but rather they function as an "along the road/route" alert.

In order to get an alert several things must be true.

1. You must set an alert either through information in the file or via POI Loader being run in Manual Mode and an alert being manually entered.

2. Alerts must be enabled on your unit.

3. You must be traveling on the road on which the POI is located and traveling in the direction of the POI.

4. The POI must be sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet or less).

Thanks Jesterhtk and Hornbyp
